Marriage in Australia is a legal process (under the Marriage Act 1961), therefore legal requirements must be met in order to get married in Australia.

A Notice of Intent to Marry (NOIM) must be completed before you can choose your wedding date.

This needs to occur no less than one month, and no more than 18 months, before your wedding.

A Declaration of No Legal Impediment (DONLI) must be completed as close to the ceremony as possible.

Identification needs to be confirmed and sighted by celebrant.

Legal and important information will be given by the celebrant to the bridal couple.

Our experienced and dedicated team will discuss all requirements with you and will ensure all legal requirements are undertaken.

Our aim at Say I Do Space is to make the process simple and stress-free.

We take care of all the technicalities so that you can focus on saying, “I Do”.

Step 1: Tentatively choose a date. Confirmation of date will occur after NOIM is completed (see above).

Step 2: We assist you in completing the NOIM.

Step 3: At point of NOIM completion and date confirmation, 50% of the package fee is due.

Step 4: A meeting with celebrant to discuss details of the ceremony.

Step 5: We assist you in completing the DONLI (see above).

Step 6: Remaining balance is due when DONLI is signed.

Step 7: Advise us of your 2 legal witnesses, who will sign the wedding certificate on the day (witnesses need to be over 18. We can provide witnesses if required).

Final balance needs to be paid, and documentation must be signed, before the ceremony. At this point we offer a quick run through of your ceremony details, ensuring you know what to expect on the day.

Ceremony times: 11am, 2pm, 5pm.

We are flexible, so please talk to us if your ideal time or day is outside of our standard times.

We recommend the bridal couple arrives at least 30 minutes before the ceremony to chat to guests, relax and enjoy the view.

You may wish to book an acoustic singer, a string quartet, or bring along your favourite songs to play.

The music choices are yours, ensuring your day is exactly as you dream it to be.
